3D printing technology has just sped up the improvement of a little South African boy’s life who was born without the fingers on his hand. South African woodworker Richard Van As and American part-time mechanical special effects artist Ivan Owen, worked together to make the lad’s prosthetic. But what is so exciting is that using a 3D printer, the pair managed to rapidly speed up the manufacturing process as they were on separate ends of the earth during the manufacturing process. The pair hope that this prosthetic technology will help those who are without the means to afford the commercial prosthetic currently on the market.
