Every sport enjoys a bit of controversy where we can lament the demise of gentlemanly behaviour. This week it is rugby. On Saturday in a match between Bath and Stade Français, the teams’ number nines were in a hold as the whistle blew. Stade Français’ Jérôme Fillol then spat in Stringer’s face as they separated.
Fillol now faces a year’s ban from the game, but has written an apology to Stringer.
