Via News24: Robben Island is now on Google Maps. Jennifer Sanasie toured Robben Island with Google and found out just how they mapped the prison and its surroundings.
With this new collaboration between Robben Island and Google, people from all over the world will be able to experience the World Heritage Site from their computer screen. Robben Island CEO Sibongiseni Mkhize, said, “The reason Robben Island is now a museum is to educate people about the part of South Africa’s heritage that is embodied in the island’s multi-layered history. Together with Google we are making this heritage accessible to people all over the world.”
